Charlotte Strider

Speech and Language Therapist

Charlotte is a Highly Specialised Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist who has been growing voices for over 10 years. Starting her career with the NHS, she then served as the Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for a primary school in London before moving to New York City and joining a prestigious specialist school for children with language-based learning disorders on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. There, in addition to acting as the institution’s Speech and Language Therapist, Charlotte also led reading and writing classes - a unique experience which strengthened her skill set in supporting language and literacy. Now, after moving back to the UK, she works for a private SLT organisation as a Highly Specialised Speech and Language Therapist, as well as providing initial SLT assessments for the NHS.

Charlotte holds several accreditations from evidence-based programmes, including Elklan, Attention Autism, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Therapy Outcome Measures (TOMs), Preventing Academic Failure (PAF), and Makton Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. She also has experience working as an Expert Witness, providing independent assessments and professional opinions to support children and families in legal and educational contexts. Her broad clinical knowledge means that she is skilled in supporting children and young people with a wide range of communication needs, including those with complex needs, autism, and language-based learning difficulties.

Her approach is child-centred and neuro-affirming, with a strong focus on building connections and celebrating each child's strengths. Based in Edinburgh and UK wide (online), Charlotte is passionate about creating supportive, engaging, and practical therapy tailored to the individual needs of each child and family she works with.

Charlotte holds a bachelor's degree (Bsc) in Psychology from the University of Manchester and a master’s degree (Msc) in Speech and Language Therapy from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. She is registered with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC), the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), and The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Currently based in Edinburgh, Charlotte enjoys spending time with her husband, two-year-old son, and dog - a rescue from Puerto Rico who, thanks to Charlotte, now speaks fluent English.
